Diabetes Foot Care

Foot Care isn't much different when you have Diabetes. Your nails will be trimmed and calluses and corns will be treated.

Your feet will be monitored periodically for changes in blood flow and nerve function. This is called a "risk assessment". Your foot structure and risk for ulceration or problems associated with poor blood flow will be evaluated and you will be advised of how to reduce your risk.

It is very important to advise the Chiropodist of any change to how your feet feel. You will be asked about any changes you've noticed in your feet since your last treatment at each foot care visit.

Important changes in your nerve function, blood flow and foot structure will be reported to your family doctor.

Your own individual risk for diabetes related foot complications will be explained and you will be advised of the best way to reduce these risks.
